Senior Applied Genomics
Specialist, Korea
Position
Summary:
The Senior Applied Genomics Specialist for
the Republic of Korea is responsible for identifying, creating, qualifying and
capturing new business for the Illumina in Applied markets, including
agrigenomics and microbiology.
The successful candidate will be applying
deep domain expertise and product knowledge to formulate compelling competitive
and selling strategies. The Specialist will be working with regional marketing,
account managers and sales channel partners, and focus on strategic commercial
initiatives to achieve long term growth and profit for Illumina.
Tasks and Responsibilities:

Work with regional marketing and account
managers to develop high value Applied Genomics accounts in the Republic of
Korea by utilizing deep domain and technical knowledge

Represent Illumina at tradeshows/conferences

In collaboration with district sales and
marketing teams, develop strategic plans for winning new business, expanding
market share and building upon existing programs manifested by a qualified
pipeline of opportunities

Regularly communicate updates to sales
management of in-district sales performance, forecast updates, and any issues
related to their specific product line performance, competitor activities, or
other issues emerging in assigned territory

Provide engaging market-focused
presentations throughout the Republic of Korea to drive market interest in
Illumina technologies

Be a champion of Illumina’s solutions in
these markets. Regularly visit key assigned accounts to implement selling
strategy, tactics and driving key sales opportunities.

Develop and maintain positive
relationships with customers in assigned territory

Execute strategies and campaigns to
target and win strategic opportunities in Applied Market segments.

Be the primary conduit between the
customer and Illumina for custom and/or customized product development project
(e.g. custom genotyping arrays)

Identify and interact with key opinion
leaders and key customers in the Applied Market segments to develop new sales
opportunities and facilitate the introduction of Illumina products into new
customer groups

Be the voice of the customer in the
Applied Market segments to regional management and global product management.

Facilitate the development of training
tools for the regional sales team and sales channel partners to support the
Applied Genomics business.

Assists, as time permits, with other
business development activities

Preferred
Education:
-
Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Genetics,
Chemistry or Biochemistry desired.

Alternatively M.S. + 5 years experience
Preferred
Experience:

3-5 years biotech experience

Market development experience including
the introduction of new technologies into new markets

Prior experience working with applied
markets, including agrigenomcs and applied microbiology

Excellent demonstrated communication
(verbal and written), presentation and training skills

Strong sales and negotiation skills

Proven ability to lead and influence a
broad spectrum of constituents (internal stake holders, external stake holders
and key opinion leaders in the field) with divergent interests in order to
create a defined and focused course of action

Must be willing to travel up to 50%

Prior experience with Illumina’s
technology

Fluency in Korean and English is
required

Demonstrated superior problem solving
and interpersonal skills in a customer facing environment
