SEERS Technology has developed wearable remote body temperature monitoring solution "mobiCARE + Temp". It is a body temperature management solution product that includes an attachable body temperature patch (MT100D), the mobile application to monitor, and multiple central control programs.
According to SEERS Technology on the 25th of April, the newly developed body temperature patch (MT100D) is a thin and light wearable thermometer attached to the armpit area. Unlike conventional products that use contact thermometers that have limited thermal conductivity and accuracy, the MT100D has improved performance through infrared temperature sensor. In addition, the hydrocolloid-based adhesives which are skin-friendly minimize skin trouble while maintaining adhesion even after prolonged attachment. With this, SEERS' body temperature patch can automatically measure body temperature every few minutes for more than 15 days by attaching it only one time. They explain it can be very useful for patients who need continuous monitoring of body temperature or patients with potential infectious diseases.
When the SEERS body temperature patch is applied and linked with the mobile application, it automatically measures the body temperature according to the time period set by the user, collects and analyzes the data. The user can check the change of body temperature in a graph on the mobile application, and can be automatically notified when high or low temperature occurs. By utilizing inserted sensor modules in the form of memory cards, adhesives that touch the body can be replaced after one-time use at a reasonable price, reducing the risk of cross-infection.
SEERS also provides a central control program to monitor multiple body temperatures for patient monitoring in hospitals and for the management of infectious diseases in public institutions. If used in hospitals, it is possible to collect body temperature data of patients visiting hospitals and patients in beds in real time, and manage it in a central monitoring center. A public institution can manage body temperature data and location information in real time using a mobile application with a body temperature patch based on consent to provide personal information.
SEERS official said, “Central monitoring system can be very useful in understanding the actual conditions and transmission routes of various infectious diseases. The smart thermometer of Kinsa Health in the U.S. predicted the spread of the influenza virus through body temperature information collected in real time from 2 million users, which is two weeks ahead of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)." It explains that the body temperature monitoring system can be effectively used for infectious diseases such as SARS, MERS and COVID-19.
SEERS said they have completed the development of the "mobiCARE+Temp" solution and are currently applying for related patents and conducting procedures to obtain certification for medical devices not only in Korea but also in Europe and the United States.
Meanwhile, SEERS Technology is a South Korean digital healthcare company that has cultivated a global market with telemedicine solutions based on remote patient monitoring. They have developed and commercialized remote patient management solution, “mobiCARE + Home", and "mobiCARE + Cardio" for cardio disease monitoring. Recently, they have also attracted an investment of 3 billion won from Lifecore Partners, which specializes in bio-healthcare, and Tigris Investment.
